About this product

Reference priceUS$0.06 – 0.85 / mFOB Xiamen · varies with width and order quantity

This is the roll-goods version of hook and loop tape: 20 mm, a stock colour, held to plus or minus 0.5 mm at both the core and the outside of the roll. 20 mm is the width most often specified for closures and light bundling. It carries a normal seam allowance on both sides, so it can be stitched or stapled without the edge fraying into the stitch line.

Where it is used

Common uses are back-to-back rolls for cable ties and wraps, adhesive rolls for panel assembly, and plain rolls that are cut to length at the machine. Splice-free put-up matters most where the roll feeds an automated head.

Ordering

Width, colour and put-up are set per order, so a mixed carton is normal rather than an exception. Minimum order is 500 m stock colour / 3,000 m dyed, and the master roll exists after the first run, which means a repeat order on the same construction does not add lead time.

How to specify it

To quote this without a round of questions we need four things: the width, the colour, the substrate or the seam it goes into, and the annual volume. The first three decide the construction; only the fourth decides the price band.

Quality control

Aesthetics are inspected on the full roll, not on a cut sample: weft skew, oil marks and hook damage are all visible at speed and all of them are reject criteria if your line is automated.

Packing and shipping

Packing is poly bag plus carton as standard. For humid destinations we add a desiccant and a moisture-barrier bag, because a nylon roll that takes up water in transit will measure wide on arrival and settle back a week later.

Send the annual volume with the first enquiry, even if it is a range. Volume changes the put-up, the slitting plan and sometimes the yarn, and the same construction quoted at 500 m and at 50,000 m is not the same job.

Ordering and shipping

  • Sold by the roll, carton or pallet — mixed widths allowed.
  • EXW Xiamen, FOB or CIF to your port.
  • T/T 30% deposit, balance against copy of B/L.
  • Sample orders ship by courier in 7 days.

Choosing this construction

Bulk rolls are for converters who slit, coat or die-cut downstream. Check the splice count and the width tolerance at both ends of the roll before you build a line around it — a roll that measures 25 mm at the start and 24.4 mm at the end will jam a fixed guide.

Common questions

What is 20 mm hook and loop used for?

At 20 mm this construction is normally specified for general closures, bags, packaging, display mounting and low-load bundling. The width does not change the peel per unit width much, but narrower tape engages fewer hooks at the edge, which is where peeling starts — so if the joint opens repeatedly, go up one width rather than up one grade.

Are the rolls spliced?

No. Standard 25 m rolls are splice-free, and the width is held within ±0.5 mm at both ends. If you are running a fixed guide or a slitter, ask for the width measured at the core and at the outside of the roll on the lot report.

Can you slit to a width that is not on the list?

Yes, from 10 mm up to 150 mm in 1 mm steps. Slitting runs on a tension-controlled line at the mill, so a custom width does not add lead time once the master roll exists.

What is the minimum order and lead time?

Minimum order for this item is 500 m stock colour / 3,000 m dyed. Production runs 15–25 days after sample approval, with samples typically shipped in 7 days.
