About this product

Sew-on hook and loop tape in a stock colour at 10-150 mm, woven rather than moulded, so the hooks recover their shape after compression instead of flattening into the loop face. Stock widths are slit in one millimetre steps, so the size on your drawing is normally a slitting instruction rather than a new tool. Tell us the width and the put-up and the quote is against a stock construction.

Where it is used

Common assemblies are hems that need to be let down and taken up, removable instrument panels, and soft-sided cases that are opened daily in the field. Stitch through the tape, not alongside it, or the corner lifts and starts a peel.

Ordering

We quote EXW, FOB and CIF on the same sheet so you can compare against your forwarder rather than against our freight. Payment is 30 percent deposit with the balance against a copy of the bill of lading.

How to specify it

To quote this without a round of questions we need four things: the width, the colour, the substrate or the seam it goes into, and the annual volume. The first three decide the construction; only the fourth decides the price band.

Quality control

Colour is matched to a retained standard under D65, not to a screen. Metamerism is real: a black that matches under office light can read green under daylight, which is why the approved standard is a physical swatch rather than a photograph.

Packing and shipping

Pallets are built to a 1,100 mm footprint and strapped, with corner boards on export shipments. If your warehouse takes a different pallet, say so at the quote stage — re-palletising at the port is charged by the hour.

Ask for a sample cut to your width; it ships in seven days and it is the fastest way to settle a substrate or colour question. Send the substrate with the request if the bond is the open question, and we will test on your material rather than on ours.

Choosing this construction

Width is set by the seam, not by the load: 16–20 mm for apparel and light closures, 25–38 mm for bags and upholstery, 50 mm and above where the joint has to stay flat under load. Stitch through the tape, not beside it — a seam that stops short of the edge lets the corner lift and start a peel.

Common questions

What is 25 mm hook and loop used for?

At 25 mm this construction is normally specified for furniture trim, panel fixing, mid-weight strap assemblies and equipment covers. The width does not change the peel per unit width much, but narrower tape engages fewer hooks at the edge, which is where peeling starts — so if the joint opens repeatedly, go up one width rather than up one grade.

Can it be washed or dry-cleaned?

Nylon tape survives repeated washing at 40 °C; colour fastness holds grade 4 after five washes on the dyed line. Dry cleaning solvents attack the hook monofilament over time, so specify polyester if the garment is dry-cleaned commercially. Stitch through the tape so the seam, not the adhesive, carries the load.

Does it come in a matching hook and loop pair?

Yes. Every roll is supplied as a matched hook and loop pair unless you ask for single-sided hook or loop only, which we also supply for converters who already stock the other half.
